Need motivation to get motivation?
May 10, 2024I'm on a motivation kick lately. It's no surprise as many of the lessons I share are ones I need for myself - and I could use some motivation!
The thing about motivation is that it's an emotion, and emotions come and go. So it shouldn't be a surprise that our motivation fluctuates, too. Yet, many of us hold onto the notion that we must be motivated to act. Not true.
Motivation's rational counterpart is discipline. Discipline clearly does not have the same PR team as motivation since discipline is usually met with eye rolls and sighs. But we need discipline when our motivation is lost in the couch cushions. We need a system, set of habits, and commitment to break through our inertia and get us to act. Sometimes, our goals are enough to push us to act, and other times, not so much.
Which brings me back to my own issues with motivation. Coming off of a busy six weeks, there's a voice that says I deserve a break, to rest. Yet, somehow, that has turned into missed workouts and skipped training sessions. Not who I want to be.
This week's podcast tackles motivation AND we are spending the month in the Q-Membership working to get our mojo back. If you've ever struggled with motivation (and discipline), this may be your sign to join us! (Oh, I'm also throwing in a little bonus to motivate you - wink-wink!)
